Batemans Bay is an area surrounded by understated natural beauty, attracting everyone from watercolour artists and rock fishermen, keen surfers and fishing enthusiasts to families on holiday. The coastline around Batemans Bay is stunning, with a string of white sandy beaches, mangroves and oyster flats, and pretty sheltered coves.
Explore the Clyde River National Park, where you can go bushwalking, fishing, and take part in watersports such as kayaking and snorkelling. The Clyde River is also the heart of the ‘Oyster Coast’, and is where you’ll find some of the freshest oysters in and around Bateman’s Bay. If you’re keen on snorkelling, there are some great spots in the area; follow the Batemans Bay Snorkelling Trail to discover them. Kayakers can explore the bay or the dramatic coastline around Geurilla Bay to the South
Some of the most fun you can have on this part of the South Coast is by spending a day at the beach. From Batemans Bay, drive south along Beach Road, stopping off at a string of picturesque coves and beaches. And there’s some great fishing spots along the rockpools of Sunshine Cove, and on the Clyde and Moruya Rivers. Drop a line in and you might hook a bream, flathead or a massive mulloway.
Don't miss Murramarang National Park, with its friendly eastern grey kangaroos, Mogo Zoo and the crafty village of Mogo. You can even enjoy a game of golf at the nearby 27-hole Catalina Country Club, rated one of the finest courses on the South Coast.

Lin House & Lin Cottage, Mallacoota, Victoria
Our good friends, Diana and Dave, offer their architecturally-designed mudbrick holiday home in the naturally stunning hamlet of Mallacoota. Lin House and the very private Lin Cottage are both available for holiday rental. Very private, peaceful and secluded. Just 100 metres to beach, walking distance to golf course, and a short walk on well-maintained bushland tracks to town centre and shops.
Why not make a road trip from Melbourne to Sydney, or reverse, and stay at both Lin House (6 hrs from Melbourne) and Becalmed (2hrs Canberra, 4 hrs from Mallacoota, 4 hrs from Sydney).
